statementSPRING , 2021.
[...] I could describe my artistic activity as a travelogue whose pages are emotional or intellectual, reflective or visceral, political and socially engaged, or simply imaginative. These pages may be paintings, photographs, drawings, cultural projects, travel, or writings. Artistic creations and projects triggered by what surrounds me at each point of the journey, by the encounter with the other and its otherness. The perception and influence of the experiences lived during the journey of each cultural space-time in which I find myself is expressed and reflected in my works, whose content as well as my ideas, interests and position are in constant movement and transformation. AUTUM , 2018. Engraving, sculpture and especially painting are the artistic disciplines through which I can express with all my sincerity what I live, feel and think. For me, painting is the way my mind and soul can breathe and stay alive, it is the most authentic means of expression I know, because I cannot lie to myself or to others when I paint, in painting I manifest who and how I am. Sculpture is a process in which I discover the power of light through the domination of volume, and I retain an almost spiritual closeness to the material I am working in. Art is for me the most human of all things human. My work revolves around figuration, but I also like colour, abstraction and landscape. My creative process begins through drawing and written reflection. Normally I work on series. I've had three individual exhibitions that bring together the most representative series of works of my artistic career. The first, War and Peace, is a series where I represent social events related to the cancellation of human rights and violence. Initially motivated by the occasional atrocities for the narcotraphic in the region where I grew up, and then by a deep empathy for events where death and suffering make one vulnerable to whole people and peoples everywhere, especially in the Middle East and South America. This series consists of oil and acre paintings, drawings, etching and drypoint. For its realization I need images taken by myself, photographs published in newspapers, social networks and international photojournalism. The second series entitled The Lovers is integrated for paintings and etchings. In these works I represent my conception of love, eroticism and fascination for the human figure. It is composed of numerous portraits, nudes and scenes of couples immersed in the act of love. For the design of these works I need real life drawings and photographic images. The third series, Folías, was born after founding an Artistic Center in Mexico that for three years allowed me a continuous relationship with other artistic disciplines, especially music; this and the daily work with children inspired me to create paintings and drawings of small sizes, painted with great spontaneity, accessible colors and gestural freedom. The theme of these works are scenes from everyday life in Mexico and figures located in natural environments, where the wind and water have a strong influence. I made these works in my spare time between teaching and the management activity I developed. Recently I have dedicated myself with great commitment to sculpture on wood, thanks to the contact with the Italian sculptor Aron Demetz. I was born in Uruapan Michoacán in 1991, I live and work between Mexico and Italy. |
