colibri art centerCENTER FOR THE CREATION, STUDY AND DIFFUSION OF THE ARTS A.C.
The Colibrí is a Center for the Creation, Study and Diffusion of the Arts located in the City of Uruapan Michoacán whose objective is to promote artistic creation and related professions, as well as to be a meeting point, training and promotion of different artistic disciplines in the region. Through the work of El Colibrí, we seek to establish relationships between artistic creators and the community, create a forum for artistic presentations for different disciplines and create a space for training in the Plastic and Visual Arts and Music.
We believe that Art, in any of its disciplines, is the most human of human beings; that just as nature also requires time, dedication and an appropriate place to grow and develop. Artistic training requires concentration, patience, collective work, time, effort and dedication; qualities that are very necessary for human training in today's society. Through our activities we seek to promote among individuals a recognition of their own contexts as places of inspiration, opportunity and change. The members of this centre want the benefits of art to reach broad sectors of the population. The intention is to develop a project that lasts and can grow. We are looking for links with artists, associations and people committed to cultural development and artistic practices inside and outside the state of Michoacán. The idea for this project arises at the beginning of 2015 as an initiative of Santiago Alfonso Navarro Benitez, Visual Artist graduated from the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving "La Esmeralda" and consolidated thanks to the collaboration with various visual artists and musicians from Mexico City, Michoacan and the stimulus obtained in the program Culture for Harmony 2015 convened by the Federal Ministry of Culture through the Government of Michoacan. Since its opening, El Colibrí Arts Center follows an academic and artistic program that has been benefiting hundreds of people of all ages in the City of Uruapan and vulnerable communities in the region; Seeking to promote and encourage the Arts, focusing mainly on Visual Arts and Music, offering classes for different ages and performing high quality artistic presentations mostly free and open to the public. |
